A Monk's Story

Two men died, a priest and a murderer, and went before Christ at their final judgement. Christ Jesus asked them to please tell Him why they should enter the gates of Heaven. The priest, thinking himself to have a good defense, spoke of the 3 mission churches he created in his lifetime. The murderer sorrowfully said, " I have no defense. I killed 3 men. "
Our Sweetest Jesus opened the gates of Heaven and asked the murderer to step forward. To the priest he said, "I never knew you." When asked by the priest why, O why should this be His decision, Christ replied softly, " My child, I have given you the talents to build thirty missions and save the souls of three hundred yet you became slothful and prideful and only built three. On the other hand this poor man had all odds against him from the beginning, having a difficult life from youth. Yet by his unceasing prayers he abstained from killing three hundred and though the demons constantly tempted him, he killed only three. "
