Update on Bishop Jonah (former Metropolitan of the OCA)

I will not post the full text, but if you readers are interested you can go the the Diocese of the Midwest website to get the details. Unfortunately its not pretty. Infact its down right shameful and ugly. I do find it interesting that the OCA website was not the first to publish the details, but really this is neither here nor there. What matters now is that we can all move on.

In light of all this, I have been thinking recently, ironically right before any of this went down, that it is a paramount step in the growth of all Orthodox Christians that we mature to a point where the church is not a hide-out or safe-haven from the world. It is more like the M.A.S.H tent set up in the middle of a war-zone.

If we are looking to hide from the world, we can obviously not see the wounded streaming in the doors of the hospital to be triaged and sent to I.C.U. I've been finally rounding that bend myself recently; acknowledging that the church of Christ has problems, has always had problems, but is guided in spite of it all by the Holy Spirit. Maybe one day, I will be healthy enough to jump off my own sick-bed and help bandage those worse off than myself.
Meanwhile may Jesus, in His mercy and as the Great Physician (better than Hawkeye?!) see to the needs of our salvation.

Please pray for the Orthodox Church in America and for both our old Metropolitan and that the Holy Spirit would guide our Synod in it's choice for a new one. Please also pray for all the victims involved and that the Lord would bring healing and repentance to all.

In the peace of Christ,

Germanus+
