What does Orthodox worship look like?

http://orthodoxyandheterodoxy.org/2012/09/10/orthodox-worship-versus-contemporary-worship/

An excellent article posted over at Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy this morning concerning ancient Christian church practice and compares it to the Protestant and "non-denominational" Christian services of today.

Copy and paste the link above. (Sorry I can't supply the direct link).

It brings up some very interesting points.

All in all, one should be willing to ask one's self, if the Apostles and disciples of today walked into your church, would they recognize it?
According to the earliest extra-biblical writings such as the Didache, or the disciples and first bishops of the church like Iraeneus, Ambrose of Milan, John Cassian, and Justinian, this matters. If one can see the church, and the gates of Hades have truly not prevailed against Her, than She should look, sound, and teach the exact same way as she once did. Does this allow.for natural development? Yes, but within the context of Holy Tradition, which actually preceeds the New Testament by several hundred years.

What I find incredible is how Protestant Evangelicalism will use a biblical Canon created by people who did not think the same way as the protestants. The first biblical canon accepted was afterall the work of St Athanasius, who believed in salvation through the church of Christ... A very literal church. His church. The Orthodox church. The same church which agreed at an Ecumenical Council on what books were acceptable and what Christians actually believed to defend the faith against heresies. These same Evangelicals and other Protestants would disagree with many articles of faith which were proclaimed at these Ecumenical Councils.

Go over and visit the link! Robert Arakaki and Fr. Damick have such a great way of explaining the theological differences between the ancient teachings of doctrine and the modern innovations.
