Why I can not support Gov. Romney

"Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." - Joseph Smith

Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith,2007
"God Himself was once as we are now,and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret." (p. 40)

Ensign,May 2009, Boyd K. Packer,President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
You are a son of God. You lived in a premortal existence as an individual spirit child of heavenly parents. (p. 50).

Beyond the Gnostic theology of Mormonism lies a privileged view of America in the world, one shared by many Protestant Americans and neoconservatives: American Exceptionalism. This belief breeds a nationalistic world view and therefore a reaction to current events which commands a "respect through intimidation" mentality. When brought to its inevitable conclusion this way of thinking ends in civil war against those who see the world differently. It brings into suspect those that would disagree and would label them as unpatriotic dissidents. Mormonism goes even further in teaching that the Constitution is a divinely inspired document. What would a man do, who believes himself to be God, and America to be a holy land?
If a man can not be judged by his convictions, what can he be judged by?

For further thought, consider the multitude of similarities between Islam and Mormonism. Do we want another Mohammed?
